Using funds from the Commonwealth Government Tarkine Walks program, contractors have recently completed the upgrade of the Huon Pine walk at Corinna. The short walk is now completely wheelchair accessible, making it one of the few wheelchair friendly walks through temperate rainforest in the world.

The Huon Pine walk features signed identification of the most common species occurring in the myrtle beech rainforest of the southern Tarkine. It includes a viewing platform at the end of the walk where an old huon pine specimen hangs over the Pieman River.

The Huon Pine walk will be the starting point for the Savage River walk, a 2km trek through primary rainforest culminating in views of the wreck of the SS Croydon at the mouth of the Savage River. This walk is also part of the Commonwealth funded program and is likely to be completed before the summer.
