Corinna Wilderness Experience is one of few Australian tourism products to hold Advanced Accreditation under the Eco Tourism Australia rating system.
Advanced ecotourism accreditation is given to “Australia’s leading and most innovative ecotourism products, providing an opportunity to learn about the environment with an operator who is committed to achieving best practice when using resources wisely, contributing to the conservation of the environment and helping local communities”.
We are proud to carry this rating.
We are committed to creating an eco tourism facility that has zero carbon footprint, and which operates in an ecologically and ethical way. At Corinna, nature is the hero. Our backyard is 65 million year old rainforest, which deserves to be preserved in its natural state.
We aim to provide responsible access to the pristine environment and work closely with partners, Parks and Wildlife Tasmania, to provide walking tracks to reduce human impact on
the area (see Walks). The partnership also provides useful interpretation material to help educate visitors about the history, flora and fauna of this globally significant region.
We are conscious of the privileges and responsibilities that come with being stewards of the site for a period of time. We are committed to working alongside other organizations with responsibilities and interests in preserving the amazing assets in the Tarkine, and particularly in and around Corinna. We want to make them accessible in a controlled way to people who will appreciate them.
Corinna is an authentic eco-tourism destination where the
owners have restored and developed the assets with sensitivity. Use of solar power, rain water, eco certified products, commitment to off-site waste removal and recycling, chemical free sewage treatment and non plastic packaging, combine to minimize the human footprint at Corinna. We understand that there is still a way to go and collectively strive to learn from, understand, and protect the unique environment of which we are privileged to be a part.
Corinna Wilderness Experience does not sell pre packaged commercial bottled drinking water in plastic or PET bottles. Instead, guests can use the specially available Corinna water bottles to fill them with the most pure rainwater in the world. We are currently the subject of a case study by the Bottled Water Alliance. See www.bottledwateralliance.com.au
